During the Civil War, Oklahoma was an unorganized region set aside for Native American tribes. A total of 7,860 Native Americans participated in the Confederate army as both officers and enlisted men. The 5 main tribes that contributed to the Confederacy were: Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek and Seminole. Stand Watie, a Cherokee who became a Brigadier General was the last Confederate General to surrender.

PERRYMAN, Rev. Thomas Ward – Co. H, lst Creek Cavalry Regiment, Indian Territory, C.S.A. (24 July 1839 (I.T.)-11 February 1903). Buried in Section 3, Block 58, SW, Grave 4 in Oaklawn Cemetery, Tulsa. (Obit.).

Wife: Eva Louella (Brown) Perryman (1855-1922) is buried next to her husband.
